The actor joins Alfre Woodard, Makenzie Leigh, Bill Camp and Spencer Treat Clark to round out the ensemble. Asbæk will play Richard Straker, the vampire who serves as the chief antagonist for a large part of the story. Pilou Asbæk, who played a memorable turn as the pirate rogue Euron Greyjoy in Game Of Thrones, has landed the plum role in the upcoming film. Although the 1970s TV movie is not without its fans (and merits), the hope is that this time around we’ll get a really cinematic take on the story. King’s body of work has been adapted over 50 times, with Salem’s Lot getting two forays onto the smaller screen, once as a TV movie and once as a mini-series. Salem’s Lot is a great modern vampire story, but not one that’s seen a true cinematic adaptation as yet. Reshoots and Covid-related issues are said to be the cause, meaning that we’ll be waiting a while longer for a modern adaptation on King’s book. The upcoming adaptation of Salem’s Lot has been pushed back from September of this year into April 2023 by New Line Cinema. The Stephen King adaptation Salem’s Lot is pushed back into spring of 2023, with a couple of other upcoming films also being removed from the schedule.
